After reading the reviews we decided to give this place a try. First, the Pico de Gallo was super bland and almost tasted prepackaged, but the other salsa was good as were the chips. Our food was delivered in good time with friendly service. But, the fajitas, chalupa, tamale, and enchiladas that came to our table were so bland no one finished their food. The ground beef was just that, not sure they even used salt. Although I would rate the service a solid 4, the food didn't have enough flavor for me, or the 5 others at my table to give a higher overall rating.

Food was below standard for an authentic Mexican restaurant. Another reviewer said it reminded of a generic Mexican restaurant. I agree with that. Maybe I'm spoiled by some of the amazing Mexican restaurants I've eaten at up in the Portland area. I ordered the fajitas and was not overly impressed. I felt the beef was a little dry. The waitress didn't ask my Mom if she wanted dressing with her salad. We asked for ranch after the salad was brought to her with nothing. They brought her blue cheese instead. She took one bite and realized it and said she didn't want salad. She was still charged for salad. We had to ask them to remove it. The pina colada that I ordered had a weak presentation with cheap whipped cream all over the drink in a not so appealing looking way. The glass it came in had a bad chip in it as well. Hole in the wall from the outside. Not much better from the inside. I'll pass right by it next time I am in Southern Oregon visiting my parents.

This is quality Mexican food in an area that does not have much to offer in Mexican cuisine. Great Margaritas, Chips and Salsa. The meals are delicious. Don't miss out on trying this place.

You could easily drive right by and miss this gem. The best Margaritas! They don't taste like "a mix". Chips are fresh and yummy. I go once a week. The staff are helpful and attentive. I forgot my sunglasses case on the table one week. The next week, I was handed the case with a smile. The food is wonderful, fresh and generous. Haven't been to any other Mexican Restaurant since finding El Caporal!

We like to judge a Mexican restaurant on the quality of the chips and salsa, five stars for their chips and salsa. My family and I eat here at least once a month. I have found the carne Asada dinner to be one of the best in the valley, my kids like the various burrito dinners that are served, my wife order something different practically every single time. The food is always the right temperature we have never had a cold meal served here. Pepsi products and they have great hours. Restrooms are always clean, the staff is very attentive and refills on the chips and salsa without asking. There is a full bar. There is a TV in the bar. One concern I do have is that I have seen the staff messing around with their smart phones like they are texting or maybe on Facebook. Please do not let your staff have their phones out while they are at work. They have very good prices, and the quality of the food is worth every penny. We will return to eat here again and again.

First off-great pricing! Good sized plates and delicious food. Low key laid back environment with a friendly staff and clean floors. We both had combos-enchiladas, tacos, and carne asada and it was delicious and hot. You don't notice it but great place to grab lunch.

Kinda reminds me of a generic mexican restaurant. I have no complaints though. The food is good and the service is decent. My fave is the tortilla soup! I like spicier salsa but it could just be me. The best place to eat within Eagle Point and Shady Cove for Mexican food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
